On March 20, 2007, Pierre Jalbert received the Elise L. Stoeger Prize for Composition.  The prize is awarded every two years in recognition of significant contributions to the chamber music repertoire. Brooklyn Friends of Chamber Music commissioned Pierre Jalbert to write two song cycles: Icefield Sonnets on poetry of Anthony Hawley, performed by Judith van Wanroij, soprano, Thomas Meglioranza, baritone, Antares, Svet Stoyanov, percussion, and Four Porter Songs on poetry of Christina Porter, performed by Judith van Wanroij, soprano, Thomas Meglioranza, baritone, Eric Huebner, piano. Both compositions were premiered on January 22, 2006 at the Lafayette Avenue Presbyterian Church in Fort Greene, Brooklyn.



In May 2007, Monica Ohuchi and Kenji Bunch were married.  They will be performing in the concert on February 10, 2008. 


Also in May 2007, Meg Freivogel and Daniel McDonough were married.  They performed in our series as members of the East Coast Chamber Orchestra (ECCO) and the Jupiter String Quartet.  They are returning to the series on March 9, 2008. 


 In the summer of 2007, Melissa Reardon and Raman Ramakrishnan were married.

Melissa is a founding member of ECCO (East Coast Chamber Orchestra) and is the violist of the Enso Quartet. Raman is also a member of ECCO and is the cellist of the Daedalus Quartet.

Melissa was the featured violist in our 2006-2007 concert devoted to the viola and she and Raman both performed in this concert. Those who remember their duet in Beethoven's Eyeglass Duo will not be too surprised to read the news!


 On August 28, 2004, Jacob Brink was born.  His parents are Stephanie Houtzeel and Charlie Brink.  Both have performed in our series a number of times and will return on March 16, 2008.  Charlie will conduct the Saint Matthew Passion and Stephanie will be one of the soloists.

Oriana at 3!! She is the daughter of Rebecca Fischer and Anthony Hawley. Rebecca is a member of the Chiara Quartet, which is returning to our series for a concert on November 18, 2007. Anthony is the poet who wrote the Icefield Sonnets, set to music by Pierre Jalbert. The Sonnets and the Four Porter Songs were commissioned by BFCM and premiered in our series in January 2006.
